Welcome to our new "CoSIDA Communicates" blog, where we will attempt to hit on all those topics listed above and provide professional development ideas and PR/sports information tips for our readers and CoSIDA members. With the unveiling of a new CoSIDA.com website for our professional athletic communicators organization, it's time for more and enhanced information exchange, and we hope you'll visit this blog to find that information - and share the information. At CoSIDA, we now have a trifecta of news exchange portals- CoSIDA.com, our Twitter account (www.twitter.com/cosidanews) and this blog.
What are we aiming for at CoSIDA.com? CoSIDA President Justin Doherty stated in his April 2010 "CoSIDA Column" he penned for NACDA's Athletics Administration Magazine:
"CoSIDA members are obviously in the middle of this communications revolution each day and are in prime position to help shape their institution’s message in ways they never could before. Our organization wants our Web site to be an educational resource to our members (and non-members). The CoSIDA Web site will aim to be a place where people can go to find constantly changing and updated content. And it can be a public relations/strategic communications portal and resource for anyone invested in college athletics."
Here, you will find observations and commentary from our CoSIDA leaders and members - who are some of the most talented and creative communicators around. Have a blog and want to share an entry with fellow CoSIDA members and CoSIDA.com visitors might find interesting and informative? Let me know. CoSIDA looks forward to guest commentators and bloggers as we explore our ever-changing world of communications.
Have an idea or link to share? Send it my way (Barb Kowal, Director of External Affairs @ barbkowal@cosida.com).
Help us help each other and also inform the athletic leaders of influence who we work with, side-by-side, day-by-day.
We like a challenge and we have lofty ambitions.
Look forward to seeing everyone in San Francsico!
